The second monograph in the series Modern Art in South Australia, Alexander Sadlo: Experimental Journey - An Artist in Three Countries has been released.
The book traces the artist’s career from his days as a student in Prague, to his productive migration experience to Australia, where he lived in Adelaide for over twenty years, and finally to England, where he has lived since 1972. It shows the artist’s work over a wide range of media, from paintings in oils and enamel to his work in the three dimensional forms of ceramics and jewellery. There is a brief summary of the artist’s career in Czech.
Some readers’ comments:
Adam, Congratulations! I’ve just read the book with great enjoyment. I knew that Alex was multi-talented but had no idea of just how broad his creativitiy is, and now, how intensive his output has been. Again, what a life … The presentation/layout of the copy and illustrations is outstanding. I’m sure the artist would have been thrilled to see it. I look forward to the third in the series.
Patricia Lange.
Superb book. The layout and colour reproduction is terrific. I look forward to book 3.
